Support Services - Coaching / Mentoring

Mentoring for Young People and Adults.

Mentorship is to influence, guide or direct a mentee: By teaching them, giving help and advice to a less experienced and often younger person. The mentor also may influence the mentee in a personal and professional capacity.

Strategy

Mentorship strategies consist of establishing trust and rapport through active listening, setting clear goals with the mentee, providing constructive feedback, and encouraging a growth mindset. The difference between mentoring and coaching is that mentorship tends to focus on specific tasks or objectives, whereas coaching often emphasizes more general goals or overall development.

Implementation

Tools of implementation include mentoring agreement templates designed to facilitate meaningful discussions on key topics such as meeting frequency, location, preferred communication methods, meeting structure, confidentiality, conflict resolution, goal setting, and career development. Establishing clear expectations early helps ensure a successful mentor–mentee relationship.
